Demetrios Nicholas Kretsedemas It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of Demetrios Nicholas Kretsedemas, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who peacefully reposed in the Lord on July 14, 2020, in Tempe. Funeral services will be private, though Demetrios had many friends and loved-ones to share this memorable time with. He was 90 years old, having lived the last 17 years in Chandler and being a dedicated parishioner of St. Katherine’s Greek Orthodox Church. Demetrios was born on Dec. 10, 1929, in the village of Poulithra, Arcadia, Greece to Nicholas Demetrios Kretsedemas and Konstantina G. Alexandrakis with dual Greek and American citizenship. He was the oldest of five children. In 1947, Demetrios came to the United States with his brother George, where their mother and brothers later joined them. There, he quickly learned English, worked in a restaurant and served in the U.S. Army. He ultimately settled in Winslow where he co-owned and managed the Falcon Restaurant on Historic Route 66 for 43 years with two of his brothers. In 1958, he met and married his beloved wife, Katherine. They raised four children together and were married for 61 years. He loved the Lord with all his heart and was a man of prayer, reading scriptures daily. Demetrios was filled with love and compassion for his fellow man. He was a shining example of generosity and virtue. Demetrios is survived by his wife of 61 years, Katherine; children, Dina, Nicholas (Denise), Kiki and Peggy (James); sisters-in-law, Sophie, Tammy, and Enid Kretsedemas; grandchildren, Katherine (David), Jacob, Katerina (Salvador), Ekaterina, Demetrios, Thomas and Sophia; and great-grandchildren Gabriel, Lukas and Demetrios, as well as many nieces and nephews.
