In response to current concerns over novel coronavirus and the potential of COVID-19 the presidential declaration of emergency, the Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow has enacted its emergency preparedness plan. In order to reduce the risk of spreading and contracting of the COVID-19 virus, only patients will be allowed access to the hospital. All visitors will be restricted with the following exceptions: One parent or guardian of a minor child or disable person. One support person or spouse of a woman in labor. One support person for an elderly person who requires assistance in walking or communicating. The hospital reiterated what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends, which is that if you believe you have been exposed to COVID-19 and have mild symptoms, stay at home, rest, drink lots of fluids and self-isolate. If you feel you are having severe symptoms such as shortness of breath or chest pain and think you may have been exposed to COVID-19, please call the clinic or the emergency department before you arrive and someone will come outside and have you put on a mask and bring you into the hospital. Please only seek care if you truly need more supportive care than you are able to provide yourself at home.
