The Bread of Life Mission’s Annual Banquet and Auction held on Sept. 21 was a great success. Sheriff David Clouse brought nine deputies and Chief Christensen brought his officers to serve dinner to approximately 230 supporters. Officers and deputies competed for tips, raising money for the mission. Officer Matthew Theobald won the “Tip a Cop” contest. Key Club and Honor Society students were assistants. Deputies and officers raised $3,710 in tips and donated another $1,500 themselves. Many sheriff deputies and police officers came straight from a long day’s work. At the end of their service they received a standing ovation.

Ten mission residents gave their personal stories and how the mission has helped them. Some had gotten on their feet and moved out into their own apartments but wanted to speak. Bill Jeffers auctioneered the event. Twyla Taylor was named Volunteer of the Year.

The mission is grateful to the ladies Tapestry Group for decorating and to Ashley Mitchell for her students, as wells as Eric Luhmann for being the sound man. The table sponsors and those who donated auction items, including Car Quest, Arizona Pawnman, Samurai Sam’s, Daystar Radio and so many who made this a great event.
