In his presentation Assistant County Manager Bryan Layton simply stated, “We have talked about the need to increase our jail fees. The municipalities don’t like it but they understand the need. These fees have not been increased in five years.”

Due to rising costs of inmate medical care, as well as increased costs in providing incarceration services, Layton said the recommendation is to increase the base booking fee from $50 to $75, with the base daily housing fee being increased from $68 to $80 and the base daily medical service fee being increased from $10 to $25.
