The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division is investigating an alleged assault of a staff member on a student that was reported at Winslow Junior High School, located at 1100 N. Colorado St.

The Winslow School District provided a press release stating that the district began an investigation on April 15 after a parent reported a concern and that police were called in the following day. The staff member resigned on April 17, and additional staff members were placed on administrative leave.

The incident was reported to Winslow Police Department on April 16 and for reasons not revealed, the investigation was turned over to DPS for investigation on April 18. No comment was received from DPS regarding the matter as of press time.
