In February, the governing board approved a pay increase for classified employees of $1 per hour in accordance with Proposition 206, the minimum wage increase. The Proposition requires minimum wage to increase to $12 per hour by 2020. Winslow Unified School District Superintendent Cyndie Mattox said, “This week, we added another three percent to all classified employees pay.”

Certified employees, meaning teachers and administrators also received a raise last week of five percent. “Because of the Red for Ed movement, teachers are required to get a 20 percent increase before January of 2020. They got a ten percent increase for the 2019-20 school year and will receive another five percent for the 2020-21 school year. That was Governor Ducey’s plan,” said Mattox.
