City of Winslow Public Works Director Tim Westover wrote in the motion, “The project includes construction of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant sidewalk ramps; new curbs, gutters, sidewalks and driveways at areas that have reached their useful life; replacement of all existing street light poles with new standardized poles; and the replacement of existing overhead wiring with new underground wiring.”

The improvements will take place on Second and Third streets from Snider Avenue on the west to Cassandra Way on the east. Funding for the project will come from HURF (Highway User Revenue Funds) up to the amount of $701,363. The remainder of the funds will come from Winslow’s one percent sales tax used for capital improvements. Work on the project is set to begin this month.
