In 1932, Lorenzo Hubbell commissioned Sam and Julia Joe to weave the world’s largest Navajo Rug for promotional purposes. It had not been seen in public in over 50 years until 2012 when Allan Affeldt, the owner of the La Posada Hotel, purchased the rug and donated it to the Winslow Art Trust. Last week the rug was put on display at the Route 66 Art Museum at La Posada in Winslow and the Joe Family was invited to a private reunion at the La Posada. It is valued at over $1 million and measures 26 feet by 36 feet.
