On Tuesday, Dec. 25, Lupe Alderete passed away at the age of 88 at the Winslow Campus of Care.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29, at Church of Christ, located at 614 N. Warren Ave. in Winslow. Burial services will be held in Silver City, N.M., on a date to be determined.

Lupe was born on Dec. 6, 1930, in Santa Rita, N.M., and was a longtime resident of Bayard, N.M., where she met her husband of 50 years, Manuel Alderete. Together they raised four children, Rosa, Rudy, Anna and Daniel.

Lupe was an active member of her church and enjoyed crocheting blankets for those in need. She was passionate about helping others and in her later years would visit nursing homes and adored spending time with the residents.

She is survived by her brothers, Vicente and Paul; daughter, Anna and her husband Jesse Morales; her grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, Sarah and Nathan; and great-grandchildren, Alexander, Jade and Leena.
