WINSLOW — The beautiful Christmas trees, dining settings, paintings, wreaths and yard décor on display at the Winslow Festival of Trees hosted by the La Posada Hotel last month did much more than spread holiday cheer. The 63 items for the festival were each donated by individuals, businesses and organizations and sold during a silent auction, earning $5,000 to be used towards non-tourism community events.

These funds go to support annual events such as the annual graduation party, local Little League teams and the Clear Creek cleanup barbecue luncheon. Winslow Chamber of Commerce CEO Bob Hall was thrilled with the turnout noting that this was the largest amount garnered from the auction in the 19 years since it began. “The community needs these sorts of things and we are so happy to be able to help.”

In addition to the displays, the chamber provided crafting supplies on tables during the event that allowed children to make their own ornaments and paper wreaths to take home, making the event one for families to share and enjoy.
