On Nov. 15, Navajo County Supervisor Jason Whiting was unanimously elected by his colleagues to serve as Third Vice President of the County Supervisors Association (CSA). For more than 30 years CSA has served as a non-partisan forum of county supervisors from Arizona’s 15 counties to address important issues facing local citizens while providing a way to share information and develop proactive state and federal policy agendas.

Whiting said, “It is an honor and privilege to serve, in any capacity, the citizens of Navajo County. I feel humbled and appreciative that my fellow county supervisors have voted to have me represent them and Navajo County in this new capacity. I will continue to work to help them and our citizens in this new leadership role.”

Navajo County Manager Glenn Kephart shared that Whiting has been actively involved in representing the interests of Navajo County locally as well as on a state and national level.

“This is an important appointment for our county and the entire region, as CSA is very influential in helping formulate statewide policy to protect the interests of our county and residents,” shared Kephart. “This gives Navajo County an even stronger voice in the state and federal legislative conversation.”

As Third Vice President, Whiting will serve on the executive committee to develop plans and implement strategies to strengthen the counties in state and federal policymaking.

In 2023, Whiting will become the CSA President. Currently, Whiting will serve alongside CSA President and Yuma County Supervisor Russell McCloud, President-elect and Santa Cruz County Supervisor Rudy Molera, First Vice President and Maricopa County Supervisor Steve Gallardo, Second Vice President and Yavapai County Supervisor Jack Smith, and Immediate Past President and Pinal County Supervisor Tommie Cline Martin.

“Supervisor Whiting is a devoted public servant whose wide range of experience and commitment to his community make him an exceptional representative of Arizona counties,” said outgoing CSA President Anthony Smith. “His election to the executive committee reflects the trust and confidence that his fellow supervisors have in him.”

Whiting has an extensive background in public service including work in local education, economic development, the Snowflake Town Council and various community groups. He has served as a Navajo County Supervisor since 2014. Whiting also works in insurance sales as a partner with The Mahoney Group. Both Whiting and his wife Shanda were raised in northeastern Arizona and now reside in Snowflake where they raise their four children.

Whiting is the Navajo County Supervisor for District III, which includes the communities of Snowflake, Taylor, Holbrook, Woodruff, Joseph City, Shumway, Silver Lake Estates and White Mountain Lakes.
