Funeral services for Pete Chavez, 71, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 8, at the Winslow Funeral Home, located at 1505 W. Third St. in Winslow. A viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, at the same location. Burial will be in Desert View Cemetery. Pete passed away May 26, 2018, at his home in Winslow surrounded by his family and grandchildren. He was born on Aug. 22, 1946, to Ysidro and Amada Chavez in Winslow. Pete lived in Winslow all his life. He loved playing guitar, singing with his grandchildren, enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and camping, spending time in his shed and watching his grandchildren play sports. Pete is survived by his wife, Rachel Chavez; son, Pete Chavez Jr. of Winslow; daughters, Lisa (Nico) Quintana, Angela (Carlos) Quinonez and Becky Chavez, all of Winslow; sisters, Olympia Orndorf of Phoenix, Evangeline Gallegos of Phoenix and Patricia (Pancho) Chavez of Flagstaff; brothers, Richard (Lorraine) Chavez of Tucson and John (Francis) Joyce of Winslow; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ysidro and Amada Chavez; and siblings. Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow handled the arrangements.
