Navajo County Supervisors Jesse Thompson and Lee Jacks, Sr., presented the Winslow Bulldogs Basketball Team with medals as a way of honoring the players for winning the 2018 3A State Basketball Championship at the Navajo County Board of Supervisors meeting on Mar. 13.
On Feb. 26 the Bulldogs defeated the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets 79 to 63 during the playoffs in Phoenix. “It was the Bulldogs’ first championship win since 1979,” said Thompson, as he addressed the team. “Many times you have been pushed by your teachers and coaches to do well, because they see the potential in you and we applaud you for doing a good job.”
Jacks, who attended the game, said, “I want to express my appreciation to a very special team for beating the odds. This has been a long time coming.”
