Taylor Town Hall

The Taylor Special Events Committee met May 2 to discuss some additions to the upcoming events.

According to Town Manager Gus Lundberg, the group, consisting of Aaron Solomon, Eddie Hancock, Carol Owens, Fay Hatch, Shawn Palmer, Tina Baldwin and Barbara Bruce, has planned some exciting events.

Trapper Days will be celebrated on Saturday, May 27, and in addition to the veterans memorial program, dog show and weight pull, and, of course, delicious barbecue, there will also be an archery shoot hosted by the White Mountain Bowhunters. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on May 27 at the Taylor Softball Field at 701 E. Center St.

The cost is $35 for a family, $25 per couple, $15 for adults and $9 for kids age 9 to 12, with kids 8 and under participating for free. Everyone is asked to bring their own equipment for the shoot, though the club will have limited equipment available for the kids if needed. There will also be a 75 to 110-yard shot competition in which every score earns a raffle ticket that will be entered into a drawing for a GlenDel Buck 3D target. The cost will be $5 for three arrows.

Also for Trapper Days, a “tint sprint” will be held at 2 p.m. at Freeman Park. Come run the mile-long course, get covered in colorful powder and finish with a nice cool rinse off by the Snowflake-Taylor Fire Department. The cost is $5 for kids and $15 for adults, with entry including a T-shirt and sunglasses.

Fourth of July festivities will include a craft fair, and lots of great tasting barbecue and other foods. To see about participating as a craft vendor, contact Aaron Dunford at town hall at 536-7366.
