During the April 18 meeting of the Navajo County Community College District Governing Board, NPC Friends & Family Executive Director Betsyann Wilson reported the results of Arizona Gives Day as it pertains to scholarships for students at Northland Pioneer College.
“We had a really, really good Arizona Gives Day. We raised $22,424 in 24 hours,” stated Wilson, adding that she was only disappointed that the college finished fifth for the highest amount of money earned for a small non-profit in the state, as the top three are awarded additional cash. She noted that there were 15 new donors this year and that the amount was $200 more than was given last year.
The next big event to earn scholarship funds is the second annual NPC Friends & Family Scholarship Golf Tournament scheduled April 29 at the Silver Creek Golf Club. Entry fees are $400 for a four-man team or $125 as a single player to be teamed up at the event.
“We are fully sponsored, thanks to Summit Healthcare and a lot of additional sponsors that have come in with tee box sponsorships. So all the proceeds that we gain will go toward student scholarships to support our NPC students,” explained Wilson.
