The Navajo County Board of Supervisors approved a request made last week by Information Technology Director Ken DeWitt to purchase a Microsoft Enterprise agreement for the next three years at a cost of $207,318.
DeWitt explained that Navajo County uses Microsoft products to run major systems to support the organization. “This not only includes Office products and email, which are used by practically every employee, but the products in the back room that support every database and application used by the county,” he said.
According to DeWitt, a few years ago the county decided to switch from a traditional hard phone PBX to a more flexible and enriched soft phone installation using Microsoft Skype for Business. This move saved thousands of dollars by not replacing aging PBX equipment. In addition, this year the county is required to purchase additional Microsoft products for data classification by the Arizona State Auditors.
