Rebecca Dean Hess, 81, of Chambers passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Gallup, N.M. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, at the Assembly of God in Houck. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Valley Baptist Activity Building prior to graveside services on Monday at the McCarrell Community Cemetery. She was born March 28, 1936, in Rockingham County, N.C. Rebecca was the mother of seven children. She and her husband served as missionaries to the Navajo people for 50 years. Survivors include her husband of 60-plus years, Lamont Hess of Chambers; three sons, Aaron, Jonathan and Jesse; three daughters, Paula, Lydia and Esther; a sister, Mildred of High Point, N.C.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy; as well as Elisha and Kissa. Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup was in charge of the arrangements.
