Winslow Police Corporal Lawrence Dashee received a medal and ribbon to be worn on his uniform after he saved the lives of a local family.
According to Lt. Ken Arend, Dashee was on patrol early the morning of Sept. 14, 2016, when he noticed the odor of smoke coming from the area of the 300 block of West Cherry. His investigation led him to a residential fire at 305 W. Cherry Street. He moved all the occupants to safety, likely preventing serious injuries or death.
Arend noted that Dashee’s quick actions certainly prevented serious structural damage that would have been catastrophic to the family.
