A homicide investigation is underway after a man’s body was found on Saturday, Nov. 26, in Winslow.

According to Director of Police Services Chris Vasquez of the Winslow Police Department, the body of Washington Norwood, 48, was discovered just after 7 p.m. on Nov. 26 just outside of a residence at 1019 W. Second St. where he was staying as a guest. Norwood sustained head trauma, leading detectives to determine that a homicide had taken place. It is unknown where Norwood is originally from.

Evidence found next to the victim led investigators to a search of the Corner Stone Apartments at 912 W. Second St. on Nov. 28, where they found items related to the homicide that were sent to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Lab for further testing. Two persons of interest were detained at the police station for questioning, but were later released.
