christmas present

Winslow will welcome the holiday season with its 70th annual Christmas parade beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19. This year’s theme is A Family Traditions Christmas, and entries are now being accepted.

The parade provides residents and guests from all around the state a joyful holiday experience. What began in 1946 as an event that would kick off the holiday season and encourage citizens to shop local now brings in crowds of up to 20,000, making Winslow’s Christmas parade the largest and longest running in all of northern Arizona.

As part of the event, Second and Third streets will be lined with vendors selling arts and crafts, clothing, jewelry, toys, holiday decorations and more, including snacks, meals, sweets and treats.

Santa Claus will be visiting on parade day, too. Young children can meet with him to get a goody bag and let him know what’s on their Christmas wish lists.

To enter the parade, pick up an application at the Chamber of Commerce/Visitor Center, located at 523 W. Second St.
