George met Betty Eileen Tripp at a Nazarene youth function in the late 1940s and they married on June 23, 1950. Shortly thereafter, George went into the service for nearly four years. George and Betty settled in Fontana and were members of the Bloomington First Church of the Nazarene. George sang in the sanctuary choir and served as the church treasurer for 17 years. He worked in the structural mill at Kaiser Steel for more than 30 years before retiring. Eventually he moved with his son, Gary, to Snowflake. George was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and continued to live with Gary until his passing.
