Nav County

During the July 12 meeting of the Navajo County Board of Supervisors, the board approved the renewal of an intergovernmental agreement with White Mountain Apache Tribe for cross-deputization of Navajo County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

The agreement was initiated in 2009 and provides for continued cooperative law enforcement efforts between the two entities. It will be in effect for three additional years. Sheriff KC Clark noted in 2009 that the arrangement offers protection for deputies on the reservation and gives the sheriff’s office the opportunity to help out on the reservation when needed. Similar agreements are in place with the Hopi Tribe and the Navajo Nation.
