The Dilcon Community School, Inc. Governing Board of Directors approved a contract with William Wachunas April 11 to serve as principal and CEO of the school for the 2016 through 2019 school years. “Mr. Wachunas brings to our school proven leadership and expertise in all aspects of education and administration,” said Board President George Joe. Wachunas began working at Dilcon Community School in December 2015. He previously worked at AmeriSchools Academy North in Yuma, where his school was recognized as one of the top five schools in Yuma County for the past five years. DCS has a residential hall and 140 students enrolled this past school year, serving the communities of Dilkon, Teesto, Indian Wells and Whitecone. DCS was founded in 1952 and is K-8 grade school. This past school year, the school board adopted a policy for school uniforms that will be phased in gradually. The board is also working to install an electronic billboard sign that will require coordination with the local community to keep the area informed about upcoming events and activities at DCS and that throughout the Dilkon community.
