David Smith

Taylor Councilman David Smith announced his intention to resign his post at the council’s May 5 meeting. He plans to seek election as District III Navajo County Supervisor.

Smith was elected to the council in 2013. He will submit his letter of resignation on May 26.

“It’s been a good ride,” said Smith, noting that he would like to serve again on the council. He thanked the town staff, and commended them for all they have done and are doing.

He said he would like to continue serving on the Public Safety Committee, which is seeking ways to fund police and fire service.

Mayor Fay Hatch said accepting Smith’s resignation will be listed on the next meeting agenda.

Town Manager Gus Lundberg told council members that they can decide how to fill the vacant seat, which will be up for election in 2018.
