By Naomi Hatch The purchase of property owned by Marion Hatch and located at 100 West and Center, just west of the Taylor Museum, was discussed in the November Taylor Town Council meeting, with the council approving Town Manager Gus Lundberg and Councilman David Smith to negotiate the purchase. After renewing the results of those negotiations, the council approved the purchase last week. Lundberg explained that he had the attorney draft a resolution and contract agreement, and had a local broker do an opinion of value that was positive for the amount the council had discussed. Not discussed at the last council meeting was Hatch’s request of a 1” water meter installation on property he owns in addition to the $40,000 purchase price. “We will coordinate with him when he’s ready for that,” said the town manager. Lundberg noted that Hatch also requested the transaction be completed through the title company and that the town pay all closing costs. In response to a question posed by Vice Mayor Shawn Palmer, Lundberg said that costs would be approximately $1,000. Smith moved to approve Resolution R2016-01, approving the property purchase. The motion passed unanimously. In other business, a presentation by Ashley Shiwarski regarding a utility service line program provided by Utility Service Partners, Inc. was postponed. Due to inclement weather, Shiwarski was unable to attend the meeting.
