Leonard Ray Jones, 71, died during the final hour of Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at the home of his daughter in Chandler. The funeral service was held Nov. 14 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Klagetoh. The concluding service and interment followed at the Klagetoh Community Cemetery.

He was born Dec. 1, 1943, in Wide Ruins to the late Phillip and Nellie (Lee) Joe.

Throughout his life, Leonard was a hard worker. He made his living as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry. When not working, Leonard enjoyed being in the beauty of the great out-of-doors. He was a rancher, as well, and taught his children by the sweat of his brow the value of hard work. He was a true horseman, and had excellent horse training skills and received a lot of joy riding them. He also loved the guitar and enjoyed singing. He was well versed in classical country music.

Above everything, Leonard’s family always came first. He loved each member of his family so very much. He was a wonderful father to his children, and his grandkids adored him. He truly will be missed a great deal by everyone who has had the opportunity to call him father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Survivors include his three daughters Lynette Jones of Chandler, Lynn (Brian) Shepherd, also of Chandler, and Lisa (Tony) Jones-Palomarez of Gilbert; his son, Leland Jones of Gilbert; four grandchildren, David Trevino, Marc Terzan, Bryanna Jones and Corbin Shepherd; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Cistah Tsosie.

Along with his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Baldwin Jones; two sisters; and his brother.

Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook was in charge of the arrangements.
