City Manager Stephen Pauken advised the Winslow City Council Tuesday evening that the fire department has applied for several grants and has been looking at several fire trucks.
He expects staff to bring a recommendation for purchase of a fire truck to the council in January.
Allen Rosenbaum reported on a serious water leak from a broken pipe, which resulted in a 32’ tank being down to 5.7’ of water. He praised the city crews for their hard work.
He also reported that the animal care facility now has a roof over the kennels, and all roofing would be complete by Wednesday afternoon. He noted that the fencing is up.
The council took no action following an executive session held to discuss and possibly act regarding the dismissal appeal hearing held Nov. 18.
During the call to the public, Kenn Evans spoke about the number of streetlights that need to be replaced.
Judy Howell spoke about calls to the animal care facility and complimented a new employee there.
Marie LaMarr spoke about the decline in population and the quality of life in Winslow.
Mark and Cynthia Lopez both spoke about problems they perceive within the fire department.
